MALVERN Town Women have moved three points clear at the top of the table after thumping Wyre Forest Phoenix Ladies for a second consecutive weekend.
Having put 11 past the same opposition the weekend before, Malvern were in rampant mood once again on Sunday as they made it 20 goals in two matches with a 9-1 victory.
The deadlock was broken in the second minute through Saff Boswell after she capitalised on a Forest mistake. Becky Evans then benefited from a Lois Unwin assist moments later to double their advantage.
Forest’s keeper was in inspired form as she denied Emma Goodband, Jess Kenny, Emily Byrd and Evans before Byrd got Town’s third.
Town's positive afternoon was soured mid-way through the first-half when they lost Lucia Meigh (replaced by Leah Cosnett) and Emma Goodband (replaced by Maggie Smith) to injury.
Forrest’s Keeper continued to thwart Town but she could do nothing to stop Megan Lindsay from adding a fourth after being set up by Jess Kenny.
Skipper Evans rounded off the first half scoring with a brilliant solo run and finish to make it five.
Forest came close to scoring on three occasions at the start of the second-half as the improved hosts looked to pull a goal back.
Town's sixth goal arrived on 65 minutes with Megan Lindsay finished off a Nicola Dutson through ball and on 72 she duly completed her hat-trick.
Forest had improved significantly on their performance seven days before and did score a consolation either side of Jess Kenny and Chanel Gittus strikes in the closing stages.
