MALVERN Town wrapped up their pre-season campaign with a 3-1 win over a youthful Cheltenham Town side on Tuesday night.
Jack Watts opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute before he made it 2-0 just moments later as he reacted quickest to tap home after Levi Francis' long-range effort was saved.
Alfie Taylor reduced the deficit just before the half-time whistle for Cheltenham but Town completed the win with nine minutes to play as Mark Magee rounded off a neat move from inside the box.
That brings pre-season to a close for Malvern, who now look forward to their FA Cup extra-preliminary round clash with Rugby Town on Saturday afternoon.
Co-manager Stephen Cleal spoke after the win and believes his side are now ready to begin competitive football after a successful pre-season.
"It's nice to win any game of football," said Cleal at full-time. "But it was all about the manner in which we went about our business.
"The shape looked good on and off the ball and overall we went about things in the right way.
"I have said a couple of times in the last few weeks that we have wanted to get ourselves up to the level required to compete this season and in the last three games I think we have done that so that's pleasing."
