MALVERN Town Women's excellent winning run continued last weekend as Saff Boswell's stunning second-half winner saw them beat Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies 2-1 to stay clear at the top of the table.
Leah Baker's strike just before half-time put league leaders Malvern into the lead but Lottie Watson equalised for the hosts in the second-half.
With the game all square, it was up to 16-year-old Boswell to produce the moment of class to take all three points from the clash, as her long-range strike from 25 yards flew into the top corner.
With Malvern having played more games than most of their title rivals, it was a winning goal that could prove to be a huge one in the context of The Hillsiders' season.
They still need teams around them to drop points but for now, Malvern keep winning and are doing what they can to make it a season to remember.
After the game, Mark Taylor praised his side for their reaction to losing their lead.
"I’m absolutely delighted with the result," said Taylor.
"The manner of the performance was just brilliant. We got a goal up and were fairly comfortable throughout the first half. At the start of the second half, we didn’t begin as we wanted and found ourselves under a little pressure before a mistake lead to the equaliser.
"It was the reaction from that point that was amazing to see. The way the team picked each other up and stuck together was outstanding; we ran hard and worked so hard to retake the lead.
"There was no way that we weren’t settling for a draw and ultimately we got that deserved winner and what a winner it was!"
