MALVERN RFC stunned the league champions Old Halesonians with a 16-5 victory that ended the visitors' 18-match winning run at Spring Lane on Saturday.
Old Hales came to Spring Lane having already wrapped up the Regional 2 West Midlands title having won 18 games in a row in what has been a remarkable season for them.
But Malvern, who have lost six of their seven games in 2023, produced arguably their performance of the season to stop Hales and ensure their supporters had something to cheer as the season comes to an end.
Vern end their 2022/23 campaign with a home clash against already-relegated Droitwich on Saturday afternoon.
Malvern currently sit sixth in the table but could finish the campaign as high as fourth place, should results go their way. If they were to win, and Hereford and Stratford-Upon-Avon lose vs Worcester and Wolverhampton respectively, they will claim fourth spot.
In other news, the North Midlands team were in action vs Shropshire on Wednesday evening, with Malvern's Ben King, Connor Giggle and Connor Harding included in the 22-man squad.
The North Midlands will also put out an Under-20 side on March 19 vs Shropshire, where Ben Gaubert and Jonathan Henderson will represent Malvern.
