MORE than 70 ladies from six local teams gathered at Malvern Rugby Club for the first round of the 2022 season Midlands Ladies Touch League South West regional competition last Sunday.
Malvern, as hosts, were determined to put on a show at home and did well to eventually finish in third place overall behind runners-up Ledbury and winners Bredon.
In just their second ever tournament as a team, Malvern won three, drew one and lost one of their fixtures on the day.
Lead for Malvern Girls and Ladies Rugby Emma Fosh said: "This was a great day. Our players performed well and are improving each time they train and play.
"We have a great set-up with Kat Brown-Williams leading the coaching and Katie Stockwell acting as team manager.
"I am keen to hear from any girl who would like to join our Sunday morning girl's rugby squad or our ladies' Wednesday evening training."
Fizz Bewley, Administrator of the Midlands Ladies Touch League said: "It has been two years, with Covid, since our ladies Touch league has played, so it is really heartening to see so many ladies coming together once again to play this exciting non-contact sport.
"And it is great to have Malvern join the league for the first time this season and also come forward to host a South West tournament."
