AN injury hit Malvern side came from 19-0 down to record a dramatic 33-31 late win at Newbold-On-Avon last weekend.
With just 17 players in the squad, including two young debutants in Ben Gaubert and Finn Potter, Malvern somehow managed to snatch victory with Rob Cook kicking a touchline conversion to spark jubilant celebrations.
A hat-trick of tries from the former Gloucester full-back Cook and one for Joe Pritchard made it 31-26 with time almost up before Glenn Potter touched down in the corner to bring the scores level.
Cook then added the conversion to secure the most memorable of comebacks.
"Up there as one of the best as a Malvern Rugby Football Club player. Boys were outstanding! Can’t beat an away win!!! Very sweet indeed" said Cook post match.
What was even more remarkable was that Newbold thumped Malvern at Spring Lane back in December by 38-7, so to reverse that result will prove to be just as sweet for Cook's men.
Whilst they stay 12th in the table, it will go down as one of the best given the circumstances.
