MALVERN Town have revenge in their sights when they host Bromyard Town in a West Midlands League Premier Division derby tomorrow (3pm).
The in-form Langland Stadium side are keen to set the record straight after losing 5- 3 in a FA Vase first qualifying round clash earlier this month.
Although Malvern lost 1-0 at Bartley Green in the league the week after, they have since gone unbeaten in three matches.
A 1-1 draw with Bewdley was followed by last Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Darlaston and Wednesday night’s 2-1 win at Bustleholme when Dave Reynolds scored twice.
The run has lifted Les Jones’ side to eighth in the table ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with bottom-of-thetable Bromyard, who lost 8-3 at Shawbury United in the Vase last weekend.
The Malvern manager said: “We are still not playing at our full potential but are doing better. We are looking forward to tomorrow and want revenge after they beat us in the Vase.
“We played well in the first-half against Bustleholme and were two-up at half-time. They scored with about 15 minutes to go but we deserved the win.”
Malvern remain without central midfielder Joe Leighton, who is expected to be out for at least six weeks after dislocating his shoulder.
Bromyard have only won once in the league this term — a 3-1 home victory over Willenhall.
Meanwhile, Malvern’s weekend game with Darlaston kicked off 30 minutes late after the opposition and officials were delayed.
It only took 10 minutes for them to take the lead when the ball was played up the left and crossed for Reynolds to fire home.
Malvern continued to impress with keeper Steve Booth blocking Reynolds’ header before Callum Haynes cleared Ed Lyons’ rebound off the line.
Two fine runs down the wing by Louis Loader ended with Reynolds going close before Lee Hooper hit a tame shot at the keeper from Lyons’ pass.
Darlaston had their only chance on 50 minutes when keeper Dean Drinkwater turned John Langford’s shot away. The rest of the game was dominated by Malvern.
Hooper shot over from Loader’s cross before being denied by Booth, while Reynolds headed wide after a fine move involving Cole, Reece King and Hooper.
Malvern hold their annual meeting on Sunday, October 7, at 7pm.
