MORE than 100 players from Midlands clubs contested the annual seniors’ open at The Worcestershire.
The overall winner was R Mason (Bromsgrove) with 42 points, who beat the hosts’ Barry Caswell on the back nine. I Lloyd (Bransford) was third with 37.
In the handicap category scratch to 16, The Worcestershire’s Paul Butler led the way with 38, one ahead of club-mate Stan Jones and three in front of J Evans (Hagley).
Over 17 to 24, R Marriott starred with 38 to beat Garnet Scott on the back nine. Graham Hill was third on 37 in an all-The Worcestershire top three.
The best gross prize went to B MacNamara (Dymock), the visitor accolade to S Hampton (Moseley) and the over 70 prize to Reg Baylis (The Worcestershire).
The Malvern Wells club’s members also competed for the Alan Courtney Cup, a greensome stableford over 18 holes.
Gary Godwin (11 handicap) and Chris Rawlings (10) won with 40 points, beating Will Brimmell (27) and Steve Hill (19) on the back nine.
Phil Birch (7) and Mark Read (5) were third with 38.
