ALTHOUGH everyone has been having to endure greater rainfall than normal, Bransford seniors have still managed to get in some golf in the past few weeks and certainly made the most of the few drier intervals there have been.
The team has spent much of the time on the road in the first couple of months of the new season with three matches scheduled away from home in April following two in the previous month.
Persistent downpours prevented the match at Evesham from going ahead but either side of this fixture they secured a 3-3 draw at Puckrup Hall and then gained an impressive 5½ -½ victory at Churchill and Blakedown.
The match against Evesham at their Fladbury-based course has been re-arranged for Wednesday, June 6.
Poor weather also forced the Bransford ladies’ April medal competition to be abandoned.
The ladies sensibly opted for the warmth and dryness of the clubhouse after viewing the snowcovered Malvern Hills from the 15th tee.
However, the Saturday medal was played and the winner was club captain Lesley Lammas with a nett 71, while the April stableford was won by Glenda Davidge with 31 points.
The ladies travelled to Cleobury Mortimer for their second match of the summer programme and this resulted in a 3-1 win for Bransford.
However, the match against Ravenmeadow ladies was cancelled due to the wet weather.
The main club’s first mixed match away to Sapey went in Bransford’s favour.
The Bettisons, Lammas, King/McPherson and Atkinsons all won 4&3; the Wettons lost 2&1; Clarke/Watts also lost 2&1, while the Hamiltons halved.
