Powick continued their impressive Worcester and District League Saturday Division One run as they recorded a hardfought 3-1 win at University of Worcester.
The visitors took the whole of the first-half to settle on the hosts’ artificial pitch with Ricky Buckland’s powerful 25- yard free-kick requiring a fine save.
Powick threatened right from the off after the break and deservedly went ahead through a fine Stu Harvey strike off the underside of the bar.
They put the game beyond doubt with Harvey heading Jordan King’s cross against the post only for substitute Andy Martin to tap in from close range.
Defender Aaron Richards registered his first goal of the season after volleying home from close range before the students scored a late consolation.
Powick are third in the table with two games in hand over second- placed Hallow but turn their attention to Worcestershire FA Minor Cup semi-final action tomorrow when they face VBL Sports at Victoria Park.
Meanwhile, Newtown Sports won 4-3 at Worcester Raiders in Division One with Jack Preece grabbing a hat-trick.
In the Worcester Sunday League’s Southam Trophy quarter- finals, a nine-goal thriller at Inter Express saw visitors WCT Sports scrape through.
