Willenhall Town 5, Malvern Town 1.

MALVERN Town set off for Willenhall for this Baker Joiner Midland Alliance clash with a couple of players missing from the previous game’s win, including striker Dorian Colling.

They started the brighter and, in the 10th minute, a free-kick just inside Willenhall’s half was headed over the bar by Gordon Mansell.

However, three minutes later the hosts took the lead when a shot from the right grazed Malvern’s crossbar but found Reece Leek at the back post. His effort was just going wide when Tom Evans came in from the right but hit the ball at Town keeper Craig Humphries and went in.

Malvern retaliated just four minutes later when Dave Perera’s low cross found Lee Allen who tapped home.

The visitors dominated the rest of the first-half.

In the 35th minute, Perera’s shot from 30 yards went just over the bar and three minutes later the same player fed Allen, and his first shot was kicked back to him while his second was cleared off the line by Andre Calder.

Five minutes into the second period, Damien Fearn, running up the left-hand side, twisted his knee.

Malvern’s only substitutes were assistant manager Mark Tipton and physio Dave Hickman and, a result, they went down to 10 men while assessing the damage to Fearn and during that time conceded two goals.

In the 53rd minute, the ball was played to Mitch Fellows just inside the area and he fired home.

Two minutes later, Humphries brought off a good save but a minute later a short corner was eventually played into the box and Mike Robertson’s shot took a deflection and went in.

The Langland Stadium side eventually brought on a substitution but were unable to get back into the game.

Willenhall brought on a couple of speedy substitutes and Malvern ran out of steam and conceded two further goals, first by Daniel Bowen-Smith in the 76th minute and then Leek in the 83rd.

Malvern Town 5, Biddulph Victoria 0.

A HAT-trick from Colling guided bottom-placed Malvern Town to a morale-boosting win over Biddulph Victoria in the Baker Joiner Midland Alliance.

Malvern took the lead in the first minute when a long ball was played over the defence and Colling turned his marker and fired home. The hosts should have increased their lead three minutes later but Allen’s shot was saved by the legs of Biddulph’s makeshift keeper Gary Goodwin.

Town dominated but threw several chances away to increase their lead with Allen firing it wide. He then missed two easy-looking chances in the 21st and 26th minutes.

Malvern increased their lead in the 32nd minute when the ball was played out to Fearn who fired home from 25 yards.

The second-half saw Malvern making the extra man count against a gradually-tiring 10 men of the visitors, as five of their squad failed to make kick-off after being stuck in a broken down vehicle.

In the 60th minute, Lee Hammond fired the ball home from just outside the box. Colling completed his hat-trick in the 63rd and 75th minute.
