MALVERN-based teenage kayaker Emily Lewis had a successful weekend at the first national canoe sprint regatta of the new season, held at the National Water Sports Centre, Nottingham.
Competing in the K1 (single) event she won in all finals of the Girls ‘A’ Division over 200 metres, 500m and 1,000m lengths.
In the 500m, Lewis achieved a personal best time of two minutes two seconds, taking control of the race from the outset with a blistering start.
The 17-year-old, who is now on the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS), has been selected for the International Regatta in Boulogne-sur-Mer next month.
She has set herself two clear goals for this summer, selection for the European Championships in Croatia and the World Championships in Germany.
