LEDBURY Town joint-manager Chris Powell is aiming for a cup double to end his side’s season in style after conceding they will finish third in the Herefordshire League Premier Division.
The New Street side face Malvern Town Reserves on Thursday, April 14, in the Worcestershire Royal Infirmary Cup semi-final (ko 7.30pm).
A home final date in the Hereford Journal Trophy against Pegasus Reserves then awaits on Wednesday, April 24 (7.30pm).
Now Powell hopes his side can add cup glory to an encouraging league campaign.
They further cemented third place in the Premier Division table with a 1-0 home victory over Lads Club on Saturday, with Ashley Jones grabbing the winner.
Ahead of their cup double-header, Ledbury travel to Bartestree tomorrow (ko 3pm).
But attacking midfielder Duncan Preedy misses out with an ankle injury and right-back Craig Wildig (knee) is a doubt.
Ledbury’s performances this season have also led Powell to say his side may be ready to rejoin the West Midlands League, but not until after they have played another season in the Herefordshire League.
He said: “I’m happy with how we’re doing at the moment.
“Being in the final like we are means we’re doing something right.
“I think we will finish third in the league now.
“We have beaten Lads Club each time we have played them this season, but they will finish second as they have been more consistent than we have.
“But they do have a couple of hard games to come yet.
“We finished fourth last year and I wanted us to improve this year, and we have.
“We’re talking about next season already. If we can, I want us to have one more season in this league and then move back to the West Midlands League.
“But everything has to be right at the club first.
“The squad has played really well this season.
“We will be pushing next season. The aim is to win at least one of the cups, but hopefully we will get both of them.”
