A FIELD of 60 competed at The Worcestershire Golf Club’s Spreckley foursomes competition.
The reward for the winners was a pair of silver trophies, first presented in 1922 by HW and AG Spreckley, the former being the 1923 club captain. Originally, the competition was medal play, but the more popular stableford form is now used.
With winter rules and fine conditions, scoring was good and the winners were two long-standing members, Martin Dowe (16) and Rob Marriott (21), with 41 points.
They were closely followed by Marc Davies (13) and Peter Basten (17) with 40. Third place went to James Hayburn (19) and Robert Merley (16) with 38.
There is already a full entry for tomorrow’s Wormington Salver and round one of the Centenary Stableford EW Evans Cup.
