WORCESTER Nomads second XI travelled to Hagley seconds for this WCL division two game on Saturday and were put in by the home side.
HAGLEY II v WORCESTER NOMADS II
After losing some early wickets and the total being 47-3, U15 Oli Flower (88) and U17 Tom Longley (55) played through the rain and set to the oppositions bowling attack. An excellent knock from both and a partnership of 123 between them put Nomads in an excellent position.
Ably supported by Sam Roberts (33no) resulted in a final total of 256 all out.
In reply, after an early wicket, Hagley were always up with the run rate and a worthy knock from A Shaw (113no) saw them home to win by three wickets.
Wickets were shared around with best figures from Blake Raymond (1-49), Oli Flower (2-36) and Derek Austin (2-47).
A disappointing loss for Nomads saw them lose some places in a very highly contested league but all hopes for tomorrow (Saturday) against Stourbridge.
WORCESTER NOMADS III v NETHERTON
IN the WCL division seven, Worcester Nomads third XI entertained Netherton.
Nomads elected to bat but a hostile spell of bowling by Netherton's quick bowlers left the home side struggling at 66-4 after 27 overs.
A heavy downpour led to a long break and early tea.
After 105 minutes, Nomads took advantage of the muddy footholds for the opposition bowlers and in the next five overs were able to plunder another 54 runs thanks to Richard Lewis 33no and Bill Beazley 37.
At this point further rain resulted in the abandonment of the game.
