HOME town players were successful when the finals of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire County Closed were played at Manor Park Tennis Club, the county centre.

Frances Eckersley from Great Malvern, defeated Elizabeth Verrow, from Barnt Green, in the ladies event and won for the third year running 6-0, 6-1.

Nick Hall, from Manor Park, won the men's 55+ singles and doubles trophies for the fifth consecutive year. He paired with Malcolm Dicks in the doubles and defeated fellow club member Andrew Sanders in the singles.

Rory Guilding, also from Manor Park, won the 45+ singles trophy.

Ben Marks, only 16, from Malvern, also reached the finals of the men's doubles.
