TEAMS have been urged to sign up for the new Herefordshire and Worcestershire Women’s County Football League. From next season, women’s county league football across Herefordshire and Worcestershire will no longer come under the banner of the Kidderminster & District Football League, but will be played in a brand new County League.

The newly-formed competition, which will be launched at the inaugural general meeting on June 9, under the chairmanship of Eric Birch, will be solely created to look after female football in the two counties and will be led by a management committee, which is likely to also include multiple female committee members.

The foundation and setting up of a committee to run the league was carried out under the tutelage of Women’s Football Development Officers Jenny Burchill and Alexis Lunn-Gadd, in consultation with all Women’s clubs across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

This is another major step forward in the development of women’s football within both counties and is a move that should enhance a firm base for the future.

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Women’s County Football League will take its place at step seven in the women’s football pyramid, with promotion to West Midlands Regional League.

To sign up for the league, e-mail Bill Allsopp (league secretary) bill@allsoppref.fsnet.co.uk or call (01299) 826654 or Alexis Lunn-Gadd (Girls & Women’s FDO) alexis.lunn@herefordshirefa.com.
