Pedmore 218-8, Malvern 29-1 from 11.5 overs (Match abandoned).

MALVERN Seconds travelled to high-flying Pedmore for their league fixture on Saturday and came away with eight points after the game was abandoned. Malvern’s captain Chay Ankers invited Pedmore to bat and the home side demonstrated why they could be contenders for the league scoring 218 in their 50 overs. Wenham top scored for Pedmore with 95.

Martin Mudway was Malvern’s most successful bowler with four wickets.

While Dan Besgrove and Rob Perrins each gained a couple of wickets apiece, there was also a highly-promising spell of spin bowling by Chris Bridges.

Malvern went out to bat and had scored 29 before Martin Barnes was dismissed for a useful 12 but soon after, the heavens opened and made further play impossible.

Many captains might have been disappointed that his side had not registered a single victory in the opening four matches of the campiagn but there were plenty of positives to be taken for Ankers.

He said: “Given that we were playing a side who had won their first three fixtures, I thought we competed excellently in the field and, if we continue to play like that, I’m sure that our first win is not too far away.”
