MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS JUNIORS.

MALVERN Town Wanderers are celebrating after just finishing their sixth successive season after they were formed as part of the club’s Saturday morning soccer school in 2001.

The boys started playing competitive football in the Mercian League as ‘under-aged’ u9s and finished runners-up. The next season they remained in the u9s division (their proper age group). The unbeaten Mercian League run began in December 2002 and they won the league title six times.

During this winning run the team has only drawn four times. In three seasons the team have maintained a 100 per cent record.

Of the current 14 players, five remain from the original eight-player squad. The majority of the rest of the team joined at u12s (when they went to 11-a-side).

The team have also won the Mercian League Cup five times and eight regional and national competitions including the FA/McDonalds sponsored Diamonds Trophy twice.

Most of the boys live in Malvern or Upton and next season the team will play in the Stourport League.

WELLAND JUNIORS.

WELLAND Juniors held their annual ‘World Cup Day’ awards presentation and end-of-season tournament at the Upton Sports Pavilion on with a record turnout. This season’s club shields were presented to: John Craddock Award for Excellence’ presented by Simon Craddock to u18s captain Tom Pugh.

Senior Clubman-Joe Forsythe, Junior Clubman–Tom Jackson, Girls’ Club award–Tori Hoper.

The coaches award for the u11s went to Abby Bevan and to Hannah Jakeman in the u14s category.

Welland’s u18s team have just completed another season in the Stourport & District League and will be looking for new players.

Next season the club would like to enter more teams into the local leagues.

They are also looking for players for their u11s, u13s and u15s girls teams and u12s, u14s and u16s boys where there are places for new players.

Full training is available for anyone who would like to become involved in the club in a coaching or team management capacity.
