TWO players at the Worcestershire Golf Club were celebrating their first holes in one in a memorable week for the pair.

Sally Dare achieved the ace in the May medal, while Pauline Belsham crowned an excellent round at the Lady Captain’s Spring Meeting at Worcester Golf and Country Club.

Belsham, a 15 handicap player, finished third in the event with 33 points having used a rescue club at the club’s 13th hole.

She said: “It was pretty much straight at the pin rolling down the hill before disappearing.”

Dare took a five-iron to sink her shot at the 133-yard third hole.

Dare, playing off 11, has been one of the most consistent performers this season and her round wasn’t all bad after she came second behind Chris Urry in the silver division.

Despite having to make a frantic dash down the 10th fairway to rescue her trolley which had taken off in the blustery conditions, Urry signed for a nett 72.

Penny Stevenson won the bronze division with a level-par 72 with Jan Bartlett in second spot five shots further adrift.
