WYCHBOLD RBL RESERVES 4, BEAUCHAMP VICTORIA 1.

THE final Worcester League Sunday Division Four match of the season proved to be typical of Beauchamp Victoria’s season as once again the team promised much but ultimately fell short.

Competing well and even dominating play in periods, the Vics fell to a controversial opening goal from Caines.

After an injury to a Wychbold player, Jones attempted pass back to Wychbold goalkeeper Rouke was intercepted by one of the host midfielders.

Beauchamp got back on level terms after a speculative 50-yard shot from Green bounced up, rebounded off the crossbar and Wilkes was fasted to react.

A mix-up between the Vics defence and keeper then allowed Parsons to nip in, steal the ball and round Holden-Jones before sliding the ball home for a 2-1 half- time lead for the hosts.

Despite a good deal of second-half huff and puff from the Vics, Wychbold extended their lead first when Parsons stroked home a left-wing cross.

Then Yardley showed good strength and composure to score from an acute angle from the left-hand side of the six-yard box to round off the proceedings.

A recent run of poor results has seen Beauchamp Victoria slump to a final position of 10th in the league table.
