BOSBURY Cricket Club began their Marches League Division Two season with an eight-wicket home defeat to Strollers.

New Bosbury captain Jon Owen won the toss and decided to bat. Openers Simon Probyn and Dave Spiller were limited to just 14 runs off the first 10 overs.

Spiller went in the 11th over for 16 before Rob Bentley-Taylor picked up his second wicket as Luke Ledbury was bowled for just four.

The third wicket fell on 67 as Darren Woodhouse was caught by Toomer off Bentley-Taylor.

George Abbey was sent back to the pavilion for just one and Daffin went next ball.

Steve Davies survived the hat-trick ball but fell in the next over as Bosbury were left reeling on 86-6 after 31 overs.

However, Mark Wadley came in to take the score to 150 in the 42nd over. Probyn was finally bowled by Mark Powell for 55.

Owen added eight and Paul Allen four in support of Wadley, who powered his way to 47 not out, including one huge six, to take Bosbury to a respectable 194-9 off their 45 overs.

Strollers openers Lerego and Albright brought up the 50-partnership in the 15th over before Lerego was bowled by Probyn for 16.

Bentley-Taylor struck a six before he was caught brilliantly at short-leg by Ledbury off Probyn for 10 with the game in the balance at 73-2.

However, Powell (29no) joined Simon Albright and the latter went on to make an unbeaten 128, including 16 boundaries and four sixes.

Albright hit a six for the winning runs to take Strollers to victory by eight wickets with eight overs to spare.
