MALVERN TOWN RES 2, PENCROFT COLTS 1.
FOR the second week running Town Reserves turned in a superb team performance, beating yet another in-form side Pencroft Colts, who are looking for promotion. Dave Reynolds created the opening goal as he held off a would-be tackler before releasing a well weighted through ball for Ed Lyons who finished in style, side footing past visiting keeper Carl Smith on 17 minutes.
Just before the break, Craig Carter created an opening for Reynolds who fired wide of the target.
It was testiment to a solid defensive display that stand-in keeper Matt Ireson was troubled little in the first 45 minutes.
Early in the second-half Malvern went looking for a second goal, and when Lewis Critcher mis-connected with a shot, the ball fell to Shaun Smith and the youngster spooned the ball past the upright.
With 55 minutes played Pencroft put together their best move of the match and it brought its reward.
Tim Rowley made ground down the right wing and crossed to the far post where substitute Ian Ralph fired home from two yards.
Endacott, playing out of position in midfield, had another storming game and was well supported by James Argent and Jamie Adams.
Carter went close with a left-footed shot, shortly before Reynolds rounded the left back and tested Smith with a fierce drive which the keeper turned around the post.
The game was settled on 80 minutes when man-of-the- match Lyons drove home the winner following a spell of pressure by the home side.
