Worcester I 35 all out, Bromyard I 36-0.

BROMYARD steamrollered Worcester by 10 wickets after a remarkable game at Norton. Bromyard skipper Zahid Saeed won an important toss and had little hesitation in asking the home side to take first use of the pitch.

Things started badly for Worcester, however, when Simon Keyte jabbed at a wide delivery from Zahid in the first over and Ash Bullock took a fine, one-handed catch in the gully to send him on his way for a duck.

Things got worse for Worcester in the following over when James Hine bowled Dan McKay, also for a duck, with a peach of an outswinging yorker, to leave the home side 0-2.

After a six straight back over Zahid’s head to get off the mark, Richard Franklin tried to repeat the shot off Hine and was easily caught for 13 to make it 26-3.

Youngster James Padden could not cope with the generous away-swing Zahid was producing and was bowled for nought, before a superb inswinging yorker from Zahid bowled Matt Foster (14) to leave Worcester in all sorts of trouble at 28-5.

Things got even worse for the hosts as Liam Weston was out for a duck, caught by Zahid at mid-off, and home skipper left-hander Liam Kelleher, was bowled by another inswinging yorker from Zahid for two.

When Dan Keyte was bowled by Zahid for two to give him his fifth wicket, they had slipped to 31-8 and were staring humiliation in the face.

Hine soon put the home side out of their misery, bowling recently-arrived South African Ryan Wille for a duck.

He then cleaned up number 11 Jamie Evans, after a couple of loud lbw appeals had been turned down, also for a duck, to leave Worcester all out for just 35 after 17.2 overs.

This was the lowest score Bromyard have bowled an opposition side out for in the 10 years of the Worcestershire League.

For Bromyard, Zahid took 5-21 and Hine continued his excellent early-season form, grabbing 5-14.

In reply, Bullock was as solid as usual in making 10no, and Ollie Bailey, also playing in characteristic fashion, took every available opportunity to attack in making an unbeaten 24.

Bromyard reached their modest target of 36 for no loss after 11.4 overs, so that the match was done and dusted by 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

The win leaves Bromyard joint first in Division One with Pershore, as they travel to sixth-placed Barnards Green tomorrow.
