LEDBURY RFC hosted the inaugural Three Counties Sevens Tournament, attracting more than 20 teams at different age groups and a crowd of nearly 1,000 who attended the event.
Spectators were treated to sides from Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire competing fiercely throughout the day.
But it was Malvern who were crowned winners of the seniors section as they beat Worcestershire in the final 34-24.
Their route to the final included victories over Upton in the semi-finals (17-12), Tewkesbury in the quarter-finals (31-3) A beer and cider festival, a barbecue and Worcester Warriors’ inflatables provided children of all ages with entertainment, and, following the presentations, there was live music in the pavilion room.
John Wilesmith, Ledbury president, said: “The whole day was a resounding success for grass-roots rugby and Ledbury, and Sunday May 2, 2010, has already been booked for next year’s event.”
