BILBROOK 2, MALVERN TOWN RES 3.
TWO weeks ago, Bilbrook came to Malvern and hammered the reserves 6-0.
The pain of that defeat was in part erased by the europhia of this magnificant win, especially considering that Bilbrook sit second in the West Midlands (Regional) Division One table and look set for promotion.
Malvern created all the early running and striker Ed Lyons spurned two early chances when scoring looked easier, before he fired home.
Youngster Jamie Adams returned a half clearance back into the box and Lyons fired home with 19 minutes played. Ten minutes later a superb passing move involving five Town players saw Lyons side foot past defender and keeper for goal number two.
Five minutes before the break a Tom Crumps corner caught the home defence flat-footed and Lyons scored a well-deserved hat-trick.
The second-half was a different story altogether as Bilbrook shook off their lethergy and took to the field in more determined mood.
Graham Ashton headed home on 67 minutes and Malvern showed signs of cracking under the relentless pressure.
Despite a battling display by defenders Joe Wood, Lewis Critcher and man-of-the-match Jamie Thomas, Bilbrook narrowed the gap further when Chris Hollins’ deceived stand- in keeper Dale Humphries with a corner which went straight in on 85 minutes.
Youth player Craig Smith and Dave Lawrence worked extremely hard both in defence and attack and should take a lot of credit for this fine win.
