GLOVER'S NEEDLE 5, BEAUCHAMP VICTORIA 2
MANAGER Colin Brown was pleased with the efforts of hispatched-up team he was forced to field against new Worcester and District League Sunday Division Four champions Glover’s Needle.
The hosts opened the scoring early when a quick throw caught out the Vics’ defence and Lloyd scored in the top left hand corner.
Five minutes later Lovell’s push on Lowen allowed him to collect a long ball by Martin before rounding Parker in the Beauchamp goal to double the Glovers lead.
There was nothing dubious about the Glovers’ third goal when Lloyd hit an unstoppable drive into the roof of the Beauchamp net from 25 yards out.
With little more than two minutes left until half-time, Allen pulled the score back to 3-1 when he latched onto a floated free-kick over the Glover’s defence by Lowen.
Normoyle extended Glover’s lead mid-way through the second-half when he rose highest to head home from a corner and he then made it 5-1 when he reacted quickest to capitalise on a defensive melee.
But Beauchamp kept plugging away and Phillips scored a consolation goal when he forced the ball over the Glover’s goal-line from a short cross from Lowen.
Remaining fixtures: Worcester Bosch (h, April 26), Arrow 2000 Reserves (a, May 3), Wychbold RBL Reserves (a, May 10).
