CALLOW End’s long run of bad results against Colwall was ended in style with a comfortable 6-0 mid-week victory at Lower Ferry lane.
Callow End raced to a 2-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes when referee Dave Taverner awarded two penalties which were both converted by Steve Winfield.
Colwall tried to fight back and during a spell of pressure Matt Davis was forced into a full length fingertip save to maintain the hosts two-goal lead at the interval.
Callow End got the killer third goal on the hour mark when Sam Black scored from close range.
From here it was all Callow End and further close range strikes from Sam Black, Bin Bin Yang and John Greenwood secured a 6-0 win and Callow End’s biggest win of the season.
Alex Jellyman was man-of-the-match but veteran Mark Owen was also solid at the heart of defence.
The victory moved them into third place in the Worcester and District Sunday League Premier Division and secure a highest-ever finish.
Callow End also defeated Prinner Sports 2-1.
The in-form Sam Black had two glorious chances to give them the lead but he fired his efforts straight at the Prinner keeper.
Callow End lost keeper Matt Davis on 32 minutes with a groin injury and with reserve stopper Patrick Haynes away it was left to Luan Gashi to put in a man-of-the-match display between the posts.
With the first-half ending goalless, Callow End picked up the tempo and took the lead on 67 minutes when after a precise pass from Akilu Giwa, youngster Jo Corbett finished.
Prinner drew level within two minutes when a clumsy tackle by Sean Castle resulted in a penalty that Neil Grub firing past rookie custodian Gashi from the spot.
The home side saw further chances go begging with Castle, Giwa and Winfield going close.
With the game looking to be a draw, Black made up for his two early missed chances when the ball broke loose in the area and his shot to a deflection and looped into the net.
Callow End will need to take the chances if they are to finish higher in the remaining two fixtures against quality opponents in Perrywood and Kem-psey United.
