MALVERN CYCLE SPORT hosted a successful West Midlands Cyclocross Championships at Lakeside Campus, this Sunday (November 24).
The competition saw riders from clubs across the West Midlands compete in a variation of age and gender-based categories, vying for victory.
Cyclocross is a form of bike racing that sees competitors complete numerous laps of a short course. The course often sees mixed terrain, and requires riders to dismount and carry their bikes at points.
The fastest time in the women's competition came from Ceris Styler of Rotor Race Team, who - by virtue of her time - triumphed in the Women's Vet 40-44 category. The fastest female junior was Zoe Parker (Solihull CC), while the senior with the best time was Ailsa Mclagan (Saint Piran WRT).
The female 45-49 category was claimed by Ailsa Nelly (Solihull CC), with the 50-54 competition being won by Eleanor Better (Dynamic Rides CC).
Isla Rowntree (Stourbridge CC) won the 55-59 category, closely followed by Malvern Cycle Sport's own Vikki Sivertsen.
Finally, Marie Riley (Worcester St Johns CC) won the 60-64 category.
In the men's youth competition, Oliver Larner (Lichfield City CC) won the race, with Malvern's Huw Mabey finishing 16th.
Sam Brownsword (Solihull CC) won the Junior category, with Malvern's Thomas Hobson coming in 26th.
Spencer Corder of Rotor Race Team won the under 23 competition. While, Tom Payton of Stourbridge CC won the men's senior race - he was closely followed by Malvern Cycle Sport's Robert Burns in third.
The male 40-45 category saw Simon Myatt (Matlock) triumph, with the 45-49 competition being won by Richard Shephard (Stratford CC).
Finally, Crispin Doyle (Magspeed Racing) was first in the 50-54 category, Darren Atkins (Mi Racing Team Enable) won in the 55-59 competition, and Kevin Payton (Stourbridge CC) came in top spot in the 60-64 race.
The location of the penultimate round of the Shimano Lazer West Midlands Cyclocross League is still to be confirmed, with the final round taking place at Beacon RC/Stourbridge CC.
