LEE HOOPER says Malvern Town are not going to Falmouth this weekend 'just to hold out for a draw'.
Malvern Town currently find themselves 12th in the Pitching In Southern League Division One South, having drawn three of their last four games.
Speaking on what the side needed to do to convert those draws into wins, co-manager Lee Hooper, said: "I think its just about having the composure in those final moments.
"When you get to the last ten minutes of a draw, not panicking and making wrong decisions, it is about staying composed and doing the things that have got us goals previously. Working things in the right areas and not making silly decisions and panicking in those situations. Just about having some composed heads at that time of the game."
Last time out Town drew 2-2, at home, with Tavistock. Malvern had the chance to clinch victory in the last minutes of the game, however, Jack Watts put the chance just wide of the posts to see the game end level.
"It was probably a fair result," said Hooper. "I think when you look back on the game either team would have been disappointed to lose.
"Both had chances, we had a chance at the critical time where we could have won it. It had just come into injury time and I don’t think they would have got back from that. So a bit frustrating from that side of things because we had the opportunity to win it. But on the flipside, Tavistock missed a few chances in the first half so it is a fair result on reflection."
Hooper and Stephen Cleal's side now prepare for a long away trip to Falmouth Town.
Falmouth currently sit 18th in the league, one point above the drop zone, having last won a game on the Saturday, October 12.
"Even though they sit below us, if you look at actual points between the league, even from top to bottom, it is not that stretched out," said Hooper. "A couple of wins can take you up quite a few places, so Falmouth are not by any means struggling. We always go believing we can get something out the game, but it is never a given so you have to prepare right, travel correctly and make sure we are ready when we are there.
"If we are on our game we have shown that we can compete with anyone in the league.
"We are competing with teams at the top very well, I think we just need to make sure that when we turn up to teams and there is points available, we do our upmost to get all three, and we do everything we can to get those points on the board.
"We go there with a positive mindset, we will set up in a way that means we definitely won’t be going there to just hold out for a draw."
