MALVERN TOWN will hope to put another three points on the board, as they return to The HDAnywhere Community Stadium against Tavistock, this weekend (November 16).
Malvern gave a strong showing last time out, claiming a point after a long away day in Exmouth.
"Sometimes you get there and you think, its has been a long journey, but you start the game well and the warm up is quite a high tempo," said Lee Hooper, co-manager of Malvern Town. "But Saturday was a little bit flat and it just felt like we were affected a little bit by the travelling.
"We were flat in the warm up and we started the game a little bit flat, so I think it adds a little bit of an impact."
With somewhat of a tough start, Malvern found themselves down 2-1 as the sides went into the half time break. However, they were able to bring the score level through Ibrahim Olateju, and then hold out to secure a draw on the road.
"It shows fantastic character and that is what we have got in the changing room for sure," said Hooper. "When the chips are down we are willing to fight, willing to stand up and give it a good go still.
"Going 1-0 down on Saturday was difficult, especially with how stretched the squad is. But the resilience was there and we showed good character to come back."
Malvern have struggled with injuries and absences over the last few weeks, causing them to have a stretched squad.
However, there was a silver lining on Saturday, with the absences allowing Hooper and co-manager Stephen Cleal the opportunity to bring some under-18s into the squad and give them valuable experience.
"I came up through the club, through the system at Malvern Town, so I know the importance of a pathway - producing local players and giving them the opportunity," said Hooper. "That has come about which allowed Lewis Rose and Elliot Potter to come along for the first time on Saturday, giving them the opportunity to be in and around the first team squad and get minutes."
Now, as Town look ahead to their match against Tavistock, they can take confidence from the result.
Hooper said: "We reacted well on Saturday to the loss last Tuesday (November 5), the lads reacted well. We hopefully can put a performance in at home to go and get a win and we will be confident of getting a result next Saturday for sure.
"We get Joe Bullock back who has been away travelling for eight weeks, which is great for us. He is a big player, played a big part in where we have come from and where we are going to. A good character in the changing room so it is good to have him back on Saturday.
"We will be looking to build on that draw on Saturday and then that becomes a great seven days."
Malvern kick off against Tavistock at 3pm this Saturday (November 16).
