WELLAND welcomed Westfield Reserves to The Hill Centre in an important match at the bottom of the league
Neither side had won a game in the league so far this season and found themselves languishing around the relegation zone of the Herefordshire Football League Premier Division.
Welland had not picked up a point since the opening day against Ledbury and had lost their last four matches, while Westfields had lost every match of the season so far, including a crushing 15-0 defeat to Worcester City Reserves.
Two first half goals from Jared Byers and George Denman put Welland in a great position to pick up their first win of the season in what had been an impressive performance from the side.
The second half of the match saw little action in front of goal, with the midfield battle dominating play.
In the dying minutes of the game, Welland had a goal disallowed, before substitute Daniel Chessman was able to put the game to bed with Welland's third of the match.
Welland now have a week off from competition before taking on Bredon in the Worcestershire FA Saturday Cup on Saturday, September 28, and return to league action against winless Hereford Ro-Stars on Saturday, October 5.
