Ed Pollock's 60-ball hundred led Worcestershire to a nine-wicket victory over Wales in the National Counties Showcase game.

21-year-old spinner Tom Hinley, making his Worcestershire debut, also made headlines, claiming three wickets in the win at Sudbrook CC.

Hinley, formerly of Sussex, has been playing regularly for Worcestershire Seconds over the summer.

Coming into play during a taxing stage of the innings, Hinley weakened Wales' stand from 94-2 in the 20th over to 133-5.

Hinley finished the innings with excellent statistics of 10-1-37-3.

Worcestershire Metro Bank One-Day captain, Jake Libby, and pace bowler Jack Home, both claimed three wickets for themselves, limiting Wales to just 25 runs between them.

The flurry saw Wales bowled out for 182 in just over 41 overs.

With the Pears now at the crease, Pollock's showcase moment arrived, racing to 50 runs off just 27 balls and completing his century with his second six – off Cian Davies – in addition to 17 fours.

His haul included hitting Davies for six sixes in just one over.

This showing continued his recent momentum, having made 67 off 47 balls in the Vitality Blast clash with Derbyshire.

Pollock ended unbeaten on 120 from 66 deliveries, which saw Worcestershire reach their target in 21.5 overs.

Fellow opener Rehaan Edavalath offered excellent support, achieving his half-century from 53 balls.

Worcestershire's victory sets a good precedent for the start of the Metro Bank One Day Cup, which is set to get underway this morning (Wednesday, July 24) against Middlesex at Visit Worcestershire New Road.
