Jake Libby has voiced his excitement at the prospect of a return to New Road ahead of Worcestershire's clash with Nottinghamshire.

The Pears, having had their first two home games against Durham and Somerset relocated to Kidderminster because of flooding, are eagerly anticipating their return to their headquarters, which will start on Friday (May 24).

Vice-captain Libby is particularly excited about reuniting with club members as Worcestershire seek their maiden win since their promotion from Division One.

The batsman said: "It’s fantastic for the boys to be back playing at New Road and I’m sure Friday morning will be so special.

“Obviously you can’t do anything about the elements and this winter across the country, not just in this area, has had constant downpours.

“It was disappointing for everyone not to start life back in Division One of the County Championship at our home.

“Make no mistake all credit to everyone at Kidderminster for putting on the first two home games and there was a tremendous effort by all the staff at Worcestershire."

He added: "But now we are back at New Road and will be aiming to put on a show for our supporters before we turn our attention to the Blast."

“It will be a special feeling for each and everyone of us when we walk down the pavilion steps onto the outfield.

“We also look forward to seeing and speaking with our members and there is a special bond.”

Most recently, the Pears were condemned to a rough defeat to Surrey away at the Kia Oval, losing by 281 runs despite some stubborn work from the tailenders.

In reflection, Libby said: "We came up against a top-class side in Surrey in our last game even though there were moments in the game where we had opportunities.

"But overall we’ve been very competitive in the matches to date."
