Malvern Joggers have made a fast start to 2023, on the roads, trails, and in their fundraising.
Joggers are preparing for spring marathons in London, Manchester and elsewhere, and have taken inspiration from Henry Pugh's excellent performance in Spain in February, where he completed the Seville Marathon with a time of two hours and 43 minutes.
Kareen Mann finished first in her age category at the Dorney Lake half-marathon on 11 February with a time of one hour and 51 minutes, while a number of Joggers achieved personal bests at the Warwick half marathon.
The club's Champions League is underway with a varied series of races, including the Muddy Woody 6 race at Haugh Woods.
Malvern Jogger Aiveen Digby was the second woman over the line. Elsewhere across trails and fields, Nikki Juniper won the Stourbridge Stagger race, and the club has been well-represented at the Gloucestershire Cross Country League.
Going even longer and more challenging, club Chair Warwick Taylor was first in his age category at the 50-mile Arc of Attrition race around the rocky Cornish coastline, with a time of 12 hours and 15 minutes.
A pub quiz was held on Friday 24 February with a raffle and auction raising around £1,400 for the Joggers' chosen charity for the year, The Cart Shed, which is based in north Herefordshire and works with adults and young people experiencing mental health difficulties or who have emotional imbalances in their lives.
With a new 'Couch to 5k' group up and running, and a family day planned for 14 May, it has been a busy start to the year.
