THE first race of the Malvern Buzzards Race Captain’s League Championship was held last weekend at the Hereford 10 Mile Race.
On a bright, mild morning, 19 Malvern Buzzards started this first of the race of the championship, which is an internal race competition within the club.
The course was a truly undulating figure of eight route around quiet country lanes of the parish of Breinton including Upper Breinton, Swainshill, Breinton Common and Warham.
First Buzzard home in a time of 1:02:52 was Neil Warne setting a new Malvern Buzzard 10 Mile Male club record.
He was swiftly followed by Alan Southwick (1:07:58) and Alison Web (1:10:47) who was the 4th female to finish and took 1st in her age category (FV50), as well as setting a new Malvern Buzzard 10 Mile Female club record.
The remaining Buzzards weren’t far behind and these included Adam Grant (1:11:06), Paul Cooke (1:12:29), Paul White (1:14:39), Robert Howells (1:17:23), Barbara Gawlak (1:19:45), Nicola Brighton (1:21:56).
Wesley Ogden (1:22:07), Linda Blake (1:22:08), Martha Worthington (1:23:28), Kate Dolphin (1:24:14), Julie Caseley (1:27:38), Neil Griffith (1:30:34), Julie Slack (1:33:27) who also took 1st for her age category (FV65), Sarah Cuddy (1:35:48), Sarah Turner (1:40:36) and Jacqui Wilson (1:40:36).
