HAVING not played a competitive game of football since April 15, Malvern Town are back in action this weekend in their season finale.
They will play Pershore Town in the Smedley Crooke Memorial Cup Final on Saturday at Redditch United's Trico Stadium as they seek to end their impressive campaign with some silverware.
The challenge they face is a big one as The Hillsiders go head-to-head with the surprise package of the season in Pershore, who themselves are looking to complete a non-league treble this weekend.
The Plums have already won two competitions - the Worcestershire FA Senior Cup and the Hellenic League Supplementary Challenge Cup - and have beaten sides levels above them in both competitions as well as this one.
Danny Janes' side toppled the likes of Bromsgrove Sporting, Redditch United and neighbours Worcester City en route to the Senior Cup win and beat Roman Glass St George (Step 5) on Monday to lift the Supplementary Cup.
Malvern manager Lee Hooper knows how big a task Saturday is set to be.
"Pershore are doing really well," he said
"They have been riding that wave but we have watched them a couple of times and we know what they are about.
"Danny Janes and his group are doing a great job over there but at the end of the day, we back ourselves against anyone."
Malvern will not have played a competitive game of football for three weeks but did manage to play a friendly against Hartpury University earlier this week.
Coaches for the cup final will be taking supporters to Redditch from the HDAnywhere Community Stadium at 11.15AM and places are still up for grabs. Contact the club for more.
