EASTNOR v STOURBRIDGE

MALI Richards, son of ex-West Indies and Somerset star Viv Richards, ripped through the Eastnor batting order to inflict a 123-run defeat in Crusader Worcestershire County League Division One.

Eastnor won the toss and put Stourbridge into bat on a damp wicket. The hosts claimed two early wickets through Mohammed Adeel to leave Stourbridge at 21-2 but the visitors rallied to 160 all out in 50 overs.

James Musk (35), Oliver Hill (34), Alex Bingham (28), Wesley Griffiths (16) and Josh Banks (10 not out) chipped in. Adeel took a third wicket and was backed up by Tom Hurrell (3-29) and James Sandford (2-28).

In reply, Eastnor had no answer to Richards as he clean-bowled six of his seven wickets for figures of 7-13. He was supported at the other end by Hill with 3-16.

Extras accounted for 19 of Eastnor's runs with only 18 runs coming from the batsmen.

However, Eastnor turned in a far better performance to beat Chaddesley Corbett by 81 runs and reach the Village Knockout Cup third round 24 hours later.

Eastnor won the toss and batted first. An order change paid off with Sandford (10) and Ishtiaq (13) putting on 32 for the first wicket. Adeel hit a fine 76 in a 75-run partnership with Josh Emery (47).

Eastnor scored 212 from their 40 overs with Chaddesley's Richard Whitehouse taking 6-29.

Chaddesley made a steady start before losing their first wicket at 36, but wickets then fell quickly to see them sink to 40-5.

Mark Webster (28) and Matthew Yardley (32) put on 64 runs before Sandford struck to claim both.

Ishtiaq (3-18) wiped out the remainder of the batsmen in four overs as Chaddesley were dismissed for 131.

Eastnor entertain Belbroughton on Sunday at 2pm.
