JOCKEY Julian Pritchard was ruled out of the Clifton-on-Teme Point-to-Point meeting after breaking his leg 24 hours earlier.

The Eastnor rider suffered the injury strolling at Bredwardine on Saturday, which led to a delay in the next race.

However, had he been fit he would have faced an embarrassment of riches in the Intermediate at Clifton.

Once Dawn led until the top of the hill where Itsalf took up the challenge but he had no answer when The Baillie, a usual mount of Pritchard, turned up a notch on the final two fences.

Caught at Dawn won the Mixed Open, the 13-year-old taking the lead from Gregory Peckory at the 16th before being strongly challenged by Magicien during the final half-mile.

Python Hall ran out a convincing winner of the Maiden for 5-6-7-years-olds.

Fate played a major part in Claire Allen's victory on Springbrook Girl in the Welsh Border Area Confined Championship on the Saturday.

A Maiden race was divided into two divisions, attracting 13 and 12 runners respectively.

The first half went to Devils Teardrop who was given a patient ride by James Tudor before claiming the prize in the home straight.

The favourite, Final Melody, battled her way back into contention and there was barely half a length between the pair at the final obstacle.

The winner jumped the fence perfectly but Final Melody somersaulted at the last and suffered a fatal fall, which allowed Giveusawave to come home.
