NEWTOWN Sports sides completed league and cup doubles at the Mercian Festival League cup finals played at Langland Stadium on Sunday.
Newtown Sports Junior U14s won the Wayne Phillpotts Memorial Shield with a comfortable 5-0 win against Worcester Raiders. On target for Newtown were Matthew Bannister with a hat-trick, Jack Preece and Joe Budd. The official man-of-the- match was Mike Roskams. It was Newtown's first cup final victory after several near misses.
Newtown Sports Colts U13s, successfully beat Leigh & Bransford Badgers Colts 2-1after extra time in the league's Trophy World Cup for their double.
The Colts also have won the Mercian League Fair Play Award for the way they have played football and for their excellent behaviour towards their opponents and officials during the season of 2006/7.
