CROWN 1, POWICK RESERVES 3
POWICK Reserves travelled to Pitchcroft to face Crown for their penultimate game of the season, knowing that a win would secure their promotion and take the race for the title to the final weekend.
Struggling for numbers and up a against an improving Crown side, Powick knew it would be difficult.
Powick began the game strongly, creating an early chance for Luan Gashi, who fired wide. Arnaud Lenoir was next to squander an opportunity, shooting tamely at the keeper having been played in by Pete Moore.
Powick fell behind having been caught out by a Crown counter attack. With no apparent danger evident, the ball was played forward to the Crown's No 9, who hit a first time volley, catching Ashley Bennett off his line.
Crown went close again, narrowly missing from a corner, while Powick came close to drawing level though Lee Jenkins, only to see his lofted shot come back off the bar.
Powick finally pulled level just before the break, as Ervan Cokaj got his head to a Luan Gashi cross ahead of the keeper leaving Arnaud Lenoir the simple task of putting the ball into the net to equalise.
In the second half, Powick went on the attack straight from the off. Zillur Rahman went close from a free kick, while Arnaud Lenoir was denied by a brilliant save from the Crown keeper.
Crown went close again via another corner, before Lee Jenkins had a goal disallowed, when he was adjudged to have kicked the ball out of the keeper's hands.
Powick got their second goal after Daniel Allen had chased the ball down into the corner to produce a cross that eventually found its way through to Arnaud Lenoir, who claimed his second of the game.
Much of the game was then fought out in midfield but with minutes remaining Powick sealed the win as Luan Gashi and Lee Jenkins combined to set Arnaud Lenoir up to complete his hat-trick and secure promotion to Division Three.
