BARNARDS GREEN v BROMSGROVE
BARNARDS Green welcomed visitors Broms-grove to North End Lane for the first match in the Duncan Fearnley Sunday Club League.
Bromsgrove chose to bat first on a hard wicket which was full of runs the previous day and got off to a promising start with Rose and Fisher starting positively.
Change bowler vice-captain Harris eventually had Rose caught for 56 and Fisher (36) was unlucky to be run out at the non strikers end. Whilst Bromsgrove batsmen came and went the only other contributor to the score was R Hope (42) who ran well and supported the long Bromsgrove tail as much as he could and the 43 extras thanks to some tidy work behind the stumps by Andrew Hoogenstraten.
Bromsgrove ended their 45 overs on a respectable 243.
Andrew Wheeler and Rich Williams strolled out to the middle and set about the opening attack. Attack Wheeler did, any thing pitched up was dispatched long and hard for the maximum whilst Williams also put the bad ball away.
The Green raced along at 10 an over and picked the bowling off with ease. It took till the 14th over and with the score on 136 before he was caught in the deep for a trademark 78 (including eight 4s and six6s).
This brought Paul Yorke (46) to the middle and he carried on where Wheeler left off, timing the ball equally as well.
During this time Rich Williams ticked along somewhat unnoticed until he departed for a chanceless 88 off just 22 overs.
With the Green positioned at 230-3 all that was left was for Clarkes, Tim and Jez, to take the team home with over 20 overs remaining to win by seven wickets.
On Sunday, Green are away to Worcester.
