A SMALL but successful group of Old Wrecks attended the Cornish Indoor Rowing Championships on Sunday at the Phoenix Leisure Centre, Launceston.
First to go was Hanley Swan's Anna Bailey, who had a very strong row to knock another 2.8 seconds off her own world record, winning the women's 50-59 race in 7 minutes, 25.2 seconds.
This was the fourth time she has broken the record in the last 14 months.
Brian Bailey put in a sterling performance with a flying finish in the men's 60-69 lightweight race to record the other world record of the day, taking gold in 6:42.5, a reduction of his own record by 1.6 seconds.
Tim Hartland only races occasionally, but earned a personal best time of 6:16.5 to win the men's open event with a terrific row.
Ted Taylor was nearer his usual form, taking gold in the men's 50-59 lightweight race with a good time of 7:09.5.
Last to row was Tommy Gee, who has had recent health problems, but put in a very respectable time of 7:33.8 to win the men's 60-69 race.
