BARNARDS Green skittled Worcestershire rivals Ombersley for just 46 in a powerful 197-run Birmingham and District Premier League Division One victory.
Green are sixth in the table, 52 points off the top two and 32 away from second-from-bottom Brewood.
Ombersley captain Arti Fiaz chose to bowl first with Green opener Mark Hooper edging to third slip for just five.
Aussie Alex Hepburn and Alex Milton played patiently but at a decent run-rate.
A Milton four took the score past 50 in the 13th over but his innings ended when caught behind for 27.
Mark Hardinges (23) was run out by smart fielding and the innings stuttered with the 100 not up until the 30th over.
Hepburn reached his 50 off 88 balls, including nine fours, before Adam Dovey was bowled for 15.
Andy Ford picked up the pace but the 46th over saw Hepburn caught and bowled for 67.
Ford’s huge six brought up the 150 before he was caught for 15. Green were on 157-6 with nine overs left and Dannie Rees made a run-a-ball 11. Jon Dovey (24 not out) and Graeme Cessford took 18 runs off the 52nd over and reached 200.
They took 29 off the next two before Cessford was caught after 39 off 25 balls, including one four and four sixes.
Ash Brewer’s two fours took the total to 243-8 as 74 off the last seven overs gave Green the momentum. Ombersley started poorly when opener Ollie Steele was out second ball when caught by Hooper at mid-on off Cessford. Jon Dovey bagged the key wicket of overseas player Krishall Magage caught by Blair Kingsland at mid-off for just 11.
Hardinges (3-16) trapped Liam Gwynne lbw for 13 as Ombersley floundered on 27-4 and he then took wickets in consecutive balls.
With Ombersley on 34-6, captain Ford (3-4) joined in the wicket-taking as Milton pouched a second catch. Jon Dovey was rewarded with a second wicket through a spectacular caught-and-bowled.
Ombersley’s 41-8 became 46 all out as Ford claimed two more wickets, including a smart stumping from Brewer.
Green gained revenge for an eight-wicket home defeat to Ombersley in the league’s T20 Challenge Cup third round.
Opener Phil Harris (39) and Elliot Hennessy (31) top scored in their 136-8 but big-hitter Chris Harwood (62) and Magage (63) blasted Ombersley home on 139-2 in 19 overs.
Kingsland conceded only nine runs off his four overs.
Meanwhile, Green lost in the league’s National Club T20 final at Tamworth to Shrewsbury by eight wickets after thrashing Moseley in the semis.
Against Moseley, Liam Smith (3-23) and Ford (2-20) starred as Moseley, who won the toss, posted a competitive 155-7. Openers Harris (94no) and Brewer (49no) batted superbly to force a 10-wicket success with the latter hitting a six to win in the 19th over. Harris blasted nine fours and four sixes.
After a three-hour break, Green faced Premier Division outfit Shrewsbury in the final.
They batted first after winning the toss but limped to 118 all out off 19.2 overs with Hennessy’s 34 off 24 balls the highlight. Jon Dovey added 23. In reply, an early Harris wicket could not stop Shrewsbury from winning with 119-2 inside 16 overs.
