AT least six current and previous champions contest the English Men’s Mid Amateur Championship for the Logan Trophy at The Worcestershire from today until Sunday.
Thomas Burley from Somerset’s Burnham and Berrow club defends the title he won at Saunton, Devon, last year. Burley, who will tee off at 9.09am in round one, is joined at the Malvern Wells course by five former champions.
They are Nigel Chesters (Hawkstone Park, Shropshire), Paul Griffiths (Sandwell Park, Staffordshire), Colin Edwards (Bath), Martin Young (Brokenhurst Manor, Hampshire) and Danny Holmes (Addington Palace, Surrey).
The Logan Trophy is open to players over 35 years and is over 54 holes with a cut after 36. The leading 45 and ties progress to the final round.
