MALVERN Town Wanderers Swifts put in a disappointing performance in losing 4-1 at home to Pershore Phoenix in Evesham Ambassador League under 13s pool ‘B’.
The visitors took an early lead and they then added to their advantage when the ball was headed home unopposed from a corner.
The second-half saw Malvern reduce the arrears when an excellent through ball was latched onto by Keiran Burston and he calmly rounded the goalkeeper to score.
The Swifts were kept in the game by a string of fine saves from Marcus McGee, but two further late goals sealed the Malvern side’s fate.
- Leigh and Bransford Badgers under 13’s Spurs delivered a scintillating performance to demolish Droitwich Spa Boys 12-0 in MFJFL Division One at Alfrick Playing Field.
The Spurs threw everything at Droitwich from the start and were four goals up after only 15 minutes.
Constant pressure, good passing and some clinical finishing saw the hosts rattle up a 7-0 lead going into the break, with Matt Cole’s diving header the pick of the bunch.
Although improved in the second period, fourth-in-theleague Droitwich struggled to contain the relentless home pressure as the Badgers were able to find the net on a further five occasions to register a record 12-0 triumph.
Striker Cole lead the way with a four-goal haul, midfielders Dan Boyd and Sam Hawthorn chipped in with a brace each and Harry Dunnett, Cameron Anstey, and Dan Medakovic and Robert Palmer all added one.
Leigh and Bransford Badgers under 11s Olympic suffered a disappointing 6-0 home defeat to Oldbury Park Tigers in MFJFL U11s Division One.
The first-half was tight with the Tigers playing some good football and they led 1-0 at the break.
In the second period, the visitors piled forwards and added five more goals to complete the rout.
- Members of Leigh and Bransford Badgers squad will act as mascots at Worcester City’s Boxing Day clash.
The club will also sponsor the match ball as City host rivals Gloucester City at St George’s Lane in Blue Square Bet North (kick-off 3pm).
Players from the Badgers’ boys’ development squad will take to the pitch with the two squads for the encounter.
