THE main title contenders contested a hard-fought 5-5 draw in Paperstation Malvern League Division One.

Broadheath Belters’ Michael Siket won his three singles matches in straight games, while Brett Brining added their other two sets to secure a tie for last year’s champions.

CSSC Ramblers’ victories came from Chris Hewitt (2), Graham Thompson and Alan Salisbury, while the first pair took a close doubles.

Second-placed Ledbury Rovers recorded a straightforward 10-0 victory over Manor Park Pumas as Ady Marshall, James Dance and Bob Marshall were all unbeaten.

Manor Park Cavaliers recorded their sixth win in seven outings as they beat Poolbrook Dynamos 10-0.

Joe Higgs, Trevor Simmons and Matt Hodges won their three singles along with the doubles.

Ledbury Collection defeated Scuttling Gang 9-1 as Harry Jutle and Ann Barnes were undefeated in the singles and doubles, while Mike Belfield claimed their other two sets. The whitewash was saved as Ray Davies beat Belfield.

The top four in Division Two are still close but Manor Park Travellers’ two wins mean they lead by one point from Poolbrook Panthers and third-placed Ripple.

Len Hitchman, Chris Burrows and Roy Holland bagged one set for Abbeydowne but Ken Hipwell and Toby Wren, who also took the doubles with Martin Snee, won three for Travellers in a 7-3 success.

When Abbeydowne played CSSC Nomads, they could only field two players with Roy Holland saving the whitewash.

Dave Hayes and Tony Hughes won two and the doubles with Geoff Davies adding another in a 9-1 success for Nomads.

Manor Park Crackpots’ 8-2 defeat to Poolbrook Panthers seemed closer than it appeared.

Robert Weston and Dave Bradley took all their singles and the doubles with Ewan Gear adding one for Panthers.

Poolbrook Rangers beat Malvern Tornados 10-0 but Noel O’Neill lost three sets in the fifth game.

Nick Haggar, Richard Cullis and Alasdair Maxwell- Stewart were unbeaten.

Crackpots ‘B’ secured a 6-4 win in the last game against Crackpots ‘D’ when Ted Cates beat Bob Rhodes to record three triumphs.

Stan Ginn supported with two successes and Alan Forsdike one, while Rhodes (2) and James Palmer responded and combined for the doubles.

Steve Mulka led the way with three for X-Police in a 7- 3 win over Devils and claimed the doubles with son James, who also won two singles. Paul Lythgoe (2) and Liz Hallam replied.

Manor Park Travellers beat Abbey College 10-0.
