BARNARDS Green celebrated their promotion to Birmingham Premier League Division One with a presentation night at their North End Lane clubhouse.

Award winners were presented trophies by chairman Andy Lamb who paid tribute to the determination of all their players.

The first team were second in Division Two despite not performing consistently but they scrapped for results when it counted.

The seconds finished third in Division Two South despite regular player withdrawals, inexperience and a long absence for their captain, while the thirds and fourths maintained their Worcestershire League status.

Lamb noted the consistent run-scoring of Phil Harris, while the firsts’ bowling trophy went to Jon Dovey who is gaining valuable experience playing in Melbourne, Australia, during the winter.

The player-of-the-year was Tim Williams, with his outstanding captaincy record seeing him oversee consecutive promotions in the last three years, although he is set to stand down as skipper at the annual meeting.

The seconds’ awards went to Tom Clack and Shane Thompson for batting and bowling respectively, while all-rounder Georgia Hennessey was named player-ofthe- year.

Roger Thompson and Chris Hill took the thirds’ batting and bowling awards. Newcomer Zak Marsh claimed the fourths’ bowling accolade.

The Sunday seconds were runners-up in the Worcestershire League and brought on a string of younger players.

Farrukh Fiaz won the batting prize, James Marsh the bowling and wicketkeeper Jack Dickenson was playerof- the-year.

Young Dickenson also picked up the most improved player of 2012 title and the young player-of-the-year went to James Marsh, who bowled with hostility and developed his batting.

Elliot Hennessey bagged the evening league award and the Alex Lamb Award for enthusiasm and achievement went to Jack McIntosh.

Andy Harris won clubmanof- the-year for his tireless work behind the scenes and a special award went to retiring groundsman Eddie Sutton for his efforts over the seasons.

Georgia Hennessey was recognised after her selection for the England women’s under 19s t20 team.
