MALVERN'S armed forces veterans gathered this weekend for their first meeting after lockdown.
The Armed Forces Breakfast Club, led by Peter Storry, met at the Foley Arms in the town after months of not being able to meet.
The event was meant to coincide with the unveiling of a new flag, but this had to be delayed.
Mr Storry served in the army in the 1950s, and spent two years serving with the Royal Army Pay Corps in Cyprus during the Emergency there, an insurgent campaign by the Greek Cypriot militant group (EOKA).
He subsequently served with the 8th Manchester Regiment.
Mr Storry moved to Malvern from Chorley in Lancashire, where he was an active member of a breakfast club.
He said: "The nearest one to Malvern is in Tewkesbury, and I go there, but after talking to veterans who live here in Malvern, I thought there is enough interest to start one up here.
"I hope the breakfast club will become part of the town's fabric.
"There has been quite a lot of interest among the veterans I have talked to, of all ranks, and ladies as well as men."
Mr Storry is keen to hear from any ex-service people who are interested in getting involved with the club.
