A DRUG dealer who plied his trade in Malvern has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Marlon Walters was in possession of crack cocaine and heroin when police swooped on an address in Archers Close.

He was one of three men arrested when police raided the house on July 6, 2010. Walters was found holding 50 bags of heroin and a further 18 of crack.

Two were released without charge, but 25-year-old Walters was charged with possession with intent to supply the illegal drugs.

Walters, of Fairfax Road, Birmingham, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Tuesday, April 19 on two counts of possession of crack and heroin with intent to supply. He was given a four-year sentence on each count, to run concurrently.

Detective inspector Jim Fox said: “Marlon Walters was travelling to Malvern with the sole intention of supplying drugs in the area.

“After police enquiries, we conducted a warrant, searched the house, arrested and charged him.

“We take drug crime extremely seriously in South Worcestershire and act on information received. We hope this reassures residents that criminals travelling here from other areas to commit crime will be caught and dealt with.”

The raid on the Archers Road house last year was one of two in that street on the same day, as reported in the Gazette at the time. The other resulted in the arrest of a man on suspicion of burglary.
